Morrowind had expansions. It is inevitable, simply because of the popularity that Oblivion will have expansions.

To date there has been much speculation about official expansions. Gamespot reported an expansion called ‘Knights of the White Stallion’. That sparked some reaction from various bloggers (kotaku, and videogamesblogger to name two) and excited responses from Oblivion fans.

Gamersreport then went to source and contacted Bethesda’s PR department who said that there is no planned expansion called ‘Knights of the White Stallion’. Now that is the name of a faction within the game an indeed there is a quest called the same. A comment from Wolfpax on the Gamersreport posting mentioned that ‘Knights of the Nine’ (apparently a registered trademark of ZeniMax Media Inc which is the holding company of Oblivion publishers Bethesda) refers to extra content in the PS3 version of the game. Bethesda themselves raised this in an interview on IGN about the PS3 version. Todd Howard of Bethesda mentions that the Knights of the Nine content is especially developed for the PS3 and would not necessarily be in a ‘Game of the Year’ edition for either PC or Xbox 360.

So major new content is on its way (not including the add-ons to date) but will it appear for Xbox 360 and PC or only on the PS3?

The IGN interview asks:

IGN: Will the Knights of the Nine quests eventually become available for X360 and PC players of Oblivion, or are they exclusively PS3’s?
Howard: We always aim to have all our content available across all platforms, so that is our goal

Hoorah! The new content is said to introduce new items and armour based on a ‘crusader’ theme as a Knight of the Nine strives to restore the Temples of the Nine across Tamriel.

The interview wraps up with a final comment:

IGN: How awesome does the Unicorn look on PS3?
Howard: The unicorn has been our primary focus since day one. Everything else is secondary to us.

Which is good because I enjoyed killing unicorns. Mwuhahahaha! pwned :¬)
