I’m Lost

So Lost Season 3 premiered two days ago on Wednesday night. Peeps in UK will probably have to wait until next May (so I’m hearing) before we can expect to see it on terrestrial TV.

In this day and age of streaming media, downloads, PVR’s, VOD and online video stores it seems that it’s still the people running TV companies and the lawyers who decide who sees what when. It is possible to get ABC in the UK using the streaming video capability that abc.com provides, but this requires you to do some ‘hacking’ of your computer’s IP address to make them think that you’re in the US. I wouldn’t recommend it and I’m not entirely sure it’s legal.

Another route, and perhaps the most popular, would be to download a recording of the show from the Web. I’m suprised the Internet didn’t grind to a halt on Wednesday night after season 3 premiered. The Bit Torrent network must have been busily gushing data around in droves. A 350MB AVI episode would probably take about 1 hour or so to download over the torrent network (assuming about a 100KB/sec download rate).

Needless to say I will do what I can to get my hands on the premier episode. But what I will say is that I will own it one day too. If not from iTunes (again, cannot download the files in the UK) then on DVD. I have both Season 1 and Season 2 of Lost on DVD now. It’s not necessarily that I cannot wait, it’s that I’d have to live in a bubble for 6 months avoiding all contact with other human beings who will download and watch the episodes. They’ll immediately be all “OMG - Kate totally snogged Sawyer, then Jack about four seconds afterwards… what’s going on?” or “The Lost numbers appeared in the froth of a cappucino that Hurley’s auntie’s, daughter’s, teacher’s, son’s, friend, drank and then he started spouting off about death and destruction, and only the other day they’d been cleaning Anna-Lucia’s front room”. Anyway.

There are one or two snippits on the abc.com website that you can watch. Kate in a dress is worth the visit… :-)

And just to make me feel better I put a picture of Kate up on the site. Awww….

It’s good, in this episode Jack decides that not only is he a doctor but he can be a pilot too, so builds a plance and tries to fly off the island ;)

No not really, but although it’s a decent episode, it’s not great.

Although personaly I had started to loose interest towards the end of season2, so let’s hope that they can pick the pace back up again in this season.
