Live Writer gets ‘crunched

Windows Live Writer has made it onto TechCrunch.

I agree with the comments about the API being the main thing that has the potential to differentiate Writer from other such tools. I’ve tried Ecto on the Mac myself but, for me bizarelly enough, I found Writer to be more intuitive. Live Writer for Mac could be a thing of legend. But then again it doesn’t sell Windows does it? And unless the plugins to ‘pimp my Writer’ are on a pay-for basis (which is a monetising trend these days) I’m not sure that it would happen.

I’m itching to see what plugins will become available but currently there appear to be none at the Dev Site. (This kicks in when you select the link through Writer’s plugin interface).

What will be interesting is how Writer fares again Word 2007 and its own blogging capability. Having tried both I found Writer to be more successful. Perhaps because it’s come from a Web publishing stable (JJ Allaire and co.) rather than from the Office team. I was always a bit wary of Word’s HTML generating capacity.

Stay tuned to the menori test site for my Writer related test posts.
