It’s the small things.. step forward dvdburn.exe

Windows Vista provides a lovely aero user interface with frosted glass style chrome. It’s by far the largest Windows to date incorporating practically everything you’ve used on Windows in the past into its great vastness. However you still can’t burn ISO’s . So despite the wonderful Mac OS X-sque interface I’m still forced to go to use the command prompt to burn an ISO. Eh? You say, there’s no tool to do such a thing. Well I did cheat a little bit and use the Windows 2003 Server Resource Kit, dvdburn to be precise. Good old command line tools came to my aid when Nero frankly failed to install. Little dvdburn even managed to survive my PC going into screensaver when the disk began thrashing frantically – doing what I’ll never understand.

Anyway I successfully burned the Fedora Core 5 ISO onto a DVD using dvdburn on Vista. Finally I’ve got something to stand my mug of tea on! Nah only joking Linux fans. I’ve got a DVD of Vertical Limit for that.
