Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion… my friend no more

150 hours!!! 150 hours I’ve played this game. I have enjoyed some of it. But Oblivion has tunred out to leave the most acrid, bitter and downright foul taste in my mouth. Now I heard about the ‘delays’ on loading caused by disk fragmentation but 25 seconds to load a menu is absolutely ridiculous. Yes, the game is beautiful and quite engaging I can’t dispute that. But when playability is effected so much by these delays (on everything!) it’s inexcusable.

Oh yes, and I’ve tried the Elder Scrolls suggested cache cleaning technique but it simply does not work for me. Every.. did I say every?.. button press now results in a 20 second wait.

I was fine until I made clearly the hideous mistake of exiting Oblivion and going back to the dashboard. Now I was thinking that would be a standarsd thing that people would do. But no. It’s the first time I’ve done that since playing Oblivion. Normally the disk sites in the drive and I boot up into it and shut down via the power button.

I’m not an angry man but i did nearly smash my controller to pieces in frustration.

Not happy. Hopefully England will win today and cheer me up a lot.
