My my my. I played the Star Wars Galaxies NGE last night. Respec’ing my character to a Jedi. I suddenly became this level 80 being of the Force. Now on a scale of 1-90 (90 being the highest level in the game now) I’m 80. If 90 is Vader or Yoda then at 80 I would assume that I was somehwere in the region of Obi-Wan in Episode II. Ok so Obi-Wan got battered by Dooku at that level, but he did escape from the clutches of a serious bounty hunter in the shape of Jango Fett. So I assumed that I would be able to take on a cast of low to mid levelled mobs in the game.
How wrong I was. Ok so I don’t have a lightsaber - I need to build one of those, and I’m not used to the new combat system [having discovered you can hold the mouse button down instead of hammering it madly as if this were Daley Thompson's Decathlon on Tatooine] but they nearly defeated me.
The interface is now all screwy with radial menu’s having been removed in many places. The game is also suffering from serious lag, and considering the user populace is nothing like it used to be that is worrying. The animations have been speeded up but it makes your character look asthough you’re having a fit!
I would recommend looking at the SOE forums for Star Wars Galaxies. Players like myself who have been registered for 2 years have suddenly come out of the woodwork and started to post messages forged from very irritated emotions.
One guy even wants to get press coverage for this latest tirade from the SWG faithful.
Many, many accounts are being cancelled by the looks of things.

When I came back from vacation a few weeks ago, XBox was advertising SWG on the console as coming soon.
My understanding is that Lucas says - “Not yet.”, XBOX says - “Coming soon”, and SOE says - “No we arent”.
(EDIT - It should be mentioned here how many time we have been outright LIED to by SOE during the life of this game)
Now keeping in mind that the game has been reduced to a simpletons quest fest, and the deleting of what must be an incomprehensible amount of game code….. My conclusion is that this game is going to be infested with console slinging 10 year olds soon.
Todays update of even MORE loss of data and over simplifying already minor things is more proof of that.
I mean they have to be able to fit it all in a console package right? And theres no way they could have fit 30 professions and all of the old data on an average X BOX disc, right?
I wont be buying anymore SONY products after this.. and to tell the truth… I have nearly lost interest in Lucas games as well… this one had SO MUCH PROMISE!!!!
But you just dont get it SOE…. all we wanted was what was being promised in the original Beta….. All we wanted was for the game to work right and the bugs to be fixed but each update has taken away things we liked and only added to the pile of bugs that NEVER get attention.
Its ridiculous and Im sorry I wsted my time here for the last 3 years Beta testing your POS and putting all that time, all the fights with my wife all the money in this game hoping youd get it right eventually…..
Now its just crap. EVERY SINGE thing you promised us originally is gone.
Im irate that it took me so long to reach Jedi, and now ANYONE can do what I did in 30 seconds.
Thanks for telling me that all the time money and fights with my wife mean sh!t to you.
Ill give it a few days for me to think it over, but Im damn sure Im leaving the game.
Almost everyone Ive met in the last 2 1/2 - 3 years is gone.
And I dont want to be here when you slap me in the face (again) with adolescent console junkies.
Thank you so much for destroying what we all saw in you, at least now we know not to trust you again.
